Update March 26, 2025:
Many of our products have been impacted by the retaliatory tariffs.
The following brands have graciously offered to split the costs with us, decreasing the amount in which we need to raise prices on their products:
- Jessicurl
- Bounce Curl
- Inahsi Naturals
- TreLuxe
We are grateful for our relationships with these brands and their dedication to their loyal Canadian customers.
Update March 5, 2025:
The tariffs imposed by the Canadian government on US-manufactured goods will substantially affect our business. Many of our customers shop with us because we offer products from brands that don't have high visibility in Canada, as well as small businesses without typical distribution channels. This means we import a large amount of our inventory.
As stated below, prices will be adjusted to accommodate any tariffs charged on incoming shipments. Changes will only be made when new shipments arrive. We will modify pricing again once the tariffs are dropped. We hope this is a temporary measure.
In the meantime, we may limit the amount of American-made products that we bring in from less popular brands. Please sign up for a restock notification to be notified once they return.
Many Canadian companies still rely upon the US for components and ingredients for their products and will have long-standing relationships with American suppliers that they may be in the process of changing. These things take time. Please keep this in mind if you notice price fluctuations on our website. We will only increase prices to the point necessary to maintain our current margins and meet minimum required retail price agreements with the companies we purchase from.
European brands may be less impacted. These include:
De minimus for the United States (only shipments over $800 go through a full customs clearance process and are charged taxes and duties) remains in effect. Our US-bound orders are still being shipped out and have not been impacted by the current changes to import regulations in the USA.
It is important to us to be as transparent with our customers as possible and we will continue to provide updates as the situation changes.
Update February 3, 2025: As announced on the afternoon of February 3, tariffs on incoming and outgoing shipments are currently paused for 30 days. We look forward to hearing that they will not be implemented in the future. For now, it's business as usual here at Curl Warehouse :)
Original post February 2, 2025
As of February 4, 2025, Canada is implementing a 25% tariff on products imported from the United States. Unfortunately, a large percentage of our products will be affected.
We will continue selling our available inventory at its current price until we receive a new shipment that is subject to this tariff. Then - and only then - will prices be adjusted to accommodate the extra expense of importing your favourite products from these brands. Changes will only be made where necessary and we commit to reducing prices again when the tariffs are, hopefully, removed.
We expect products from Canadian brands and those imported from Europe will be unaffected unless their raw materials are from the USA. If you would like a recommendation for a comparable product to what you are currently using, please email us or visit us in store.
While we strongly encourage the recent push for purchasing Canadian goods, please remember that almost all of the American brands we carry are small businesses. Their products are fantastic and they are too. Their businesses are also being affected by this trade war and we are not going to stop supporting them. If you love their product, we will do our best to continue providing access to it for you.
Thank you for your patience as we work to figure out exactly how this tariff will affect our operations at Curl Warehouse.
